Austin’s Convey raises $8M, inks deal with global company
New jobs are on the way at the Austin-based company, which creates software to help companies track their shipments. Its new funding will also pay for expansion into new markets.
Convey Inc., an Austin logistics startup, announced Tuesday the closing of an $8.25 million series B round of funding. The investment, in part, will enable the company to expand beyond its core market of retail businesses. And the money will pay for growth in its product-development, engineering and “customer success” divisions.
That means new jobs. Convey plans to hire 20 people in those areas by the end of the year, bringing its total workforce to 45. All employees are based in the Texas capital. Convey also announced an agreement with California-based Ingram Micro Inc., a wholesaler of information-technology products and services from manufacturers such as Apple Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc.
The agreement means Convey can sell to customers in new sectors such as manufacturing.
